NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is a Two-Part course consisting of an e-learning portion (completed online in your own time) and a hands-on practical portion conducted at our range under the guidance and supervision of one of our NRA Certified Instructors.

Some of the topics in the course include:

  • gun safety rules,

  • proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols,

  • ammunition knowledge and selection,

  • selecting and storing a pistol,

  • the fundamentals of shooting,

  • pistol inspection and maintenance.

During the instructor-led-training portion of the course, an NRA Certified Instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling; loading and unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire; and a final shooting qualification.

When you attend this second part of the course, the following items will be required:

    

  1. eLearing module certificate with unique login information you needed to take the course.

  2. Favorite handgun (no subcompact semi-autos nor snub-nose revolvers).

  3. 20 rounds of ammunition.

  4. Eye and Ear protection.

  5. Personal gun cleaning kit.

* If you plan to apply for your non-resident license for Florida, Connecticut and Arizona, you will need to obtain this NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Certificate.
